BACKTALK COMPUTER CONFERENCES

Backtalk supports multiple interfaces to the conferencing system, called "flavors".  You can access the conferences by clicking on one of the following links.  Please follow the conference rules - if you create problems, your conference access will be removed.

    • Pistachio
The pistachio interface offers a full range of features with a rather plain push-button based interface. It will perform well on almost any browser.
    • Abalone
The abalone flavor provides a good-looking interface, but it may be slower than pistachio. It uses pull-down command menus and occasional pop-up prompt boxes.
    • Bubblegum
The bubblegum interface is a simplified kid-oriented interface. It will work on most modern browsers.
    • Vanilla
The vanilla interface is text-oriented, with very verbose command options. It is missing many features, but will work with most any browser, including non-graphical browsers.
    • Papaya
The Papaya interface offers a familiar environment to users accustomed to Web Yapp.

The biggest problem with on-line forums and conferences is anonymous people who sit behind their keyboards, typing things to create problems, knowing that they are anonymous and aren’t responsible for what they write.  SGrid Online wanted to encourage knowledgeable people to participate in the forums and conferences, without them being bothered when some mindless jerk posts things simply to annoy them.  We wanted a higher standard for the forums and conferences, and to do this we needed to make people responsible for what they post.  We needed a means of validating people, and after looking at many options, a ‘paypal’ receipt seemed to be the easiest way to let people verify that they are who they say they are.  Once you sign up for SGrid Online, you will then be able to create your Backtalk Conferencing Account. There are some other options being considered, where members of other racing groups would be provided access, but that is not finalized at the present time.

If you are a subscriber to SGrid Online, you can create your backtalk account by clicking HERE. Then email a copy of your paypal receipt, along with the login-id for the new Backtalkaccount you created, to  mikem@rc-racing.com.    Your Backtalk account will be validated after this information is received.
